On October 28, 2023, the Annual Conference of Shanghai WTO Law Research Society was held in Xuhui Campus of East China University of Science and Technology. The theme of the conference was"Reconstruction of International Economic and Trade Rules System and Chinese Modernization". Guests attending this conference mainly include scholars from many universities and research institutions in China, in addition to many experts in the field of international rules to comment. Prof. Meng Qi, as the reviewer of the annual conference forum, went to the conference with a team of graduate students of the 23rd grade specializing in international business to observe and learn.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Institute presented awards to the winners of the essays participating in this annual meeting and invited Zhang Naigen, Distinguished Professor of Fudan University and Advisor to the Fifth International Law Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to deliver a keynote report on the reconstruction of the international economic and trade rules and the dilemma of the WTO.

The meeting was divided into two parts: Youth Forum of Shanghai WTO Law Research Association and Thematic Forum of Shanghai WTO Law Research Association. Among them, the Youth Forum was presided over by Professor Peng Delai, Dean of the Law School of East China University ofScience and Technology, and young scholars from many universities in Chinaspoke on their research views and achievements under the theme of "DigitalEconomy and International Economic and Trade Rules", which covered hot topics such as core digital trade rules of the CPTPP, legal regulation of data security, cross-border service trade rules, and so on. The scholars covered the core digital trade rules of CPTPP, legal regulation of data security, cross-border service trade rules, and other hot topics. Prof. Ma Zhongfa of LawSchool of Fudan University and Wang Chenzhu, lecturer of Shanghai Normal University, commented on the speeches of the young scholars.

The Annual Conference Thematic Forum, chaired by Tian Tingfeng, Director of Shanghai Shenhao Law Firm, was divided into two topics: "Review of the 10th Anniversary of the Pilot Free Trade Zone andNew Development of International Economic and Trade Rules" and"Win-Win Cooperation and Multilateral Trading System". In the first topic, scholars from many domestic universities and research institutes shared their research results, including the RCEP dispute settlement mechanism, CPTPP security exception clause, institutional innovation, and legalization of thePilot Free Trade Zone, etc. Professor Meng Qi of the Academy, and Director of International Business Studies of Shanghai University of International Business and Economics Jin Xiaobai commented on the speeches of the scholars. In these second topic, the research views of scholars were related to the regulation of cross-border flow of financial data, "hidden barriers" of intellectual property rights in international trade, international investment dispute mediation mechanism, etc. Liu Yang, the lecturer at the School of International Law of East China University of Political Science and Law, and Zhu Ningbo, an Associate Professor at the School of Law of East China University of Science and Technology, commented on the speeches of the scholars.

At the end of the meeting, Professor HuJiaxiang, President of the Shanghai WTO Law Research Association, summarized the meeting.
